Why remove metadata from your photos?
Every photo you take carries hidden metadata, and the most sensitive part is the GPS location. When you share an image online or send it to someone, that embedded data can reveal exactly where you live, work or travel, along with the device you used. Removing metadata before sharing protects your privacy and stops you from leaking information you never meant to send. This free metadata remover strips EXIF and GPS data in seconds.
What metadata is removed?
The tool removes all of it: the EXIF block (camera make and model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and the capture date), GPS coordinates, software and editing tags, and copyright or author fields. The result is a clean image that looks identical but carries none of the original hidden information. If you want to see what is in a file first, check it with our EXIF viewer.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. For JPG and JPEG files we strip the metadata losslessly, which means the actual pixels are left completely untouched and only the metadata segments are deleted. PNG and WebP files are re-saved at high quality without their metadata. In every case the photo looks exactly the same, just without the hidden data attached.
Verify that nothing is left behind
You do not have to take our word for it. Every cleaned photo gets a Verify link that opens it straight in our EXIF viewer, so you can confirm with your own eyes that the EXIF, GPS and other tags are really gone before you share it. The file is handed over inside your browser, so even this check happens without anything touching our servers.
Remove GPS location from photos
Geotagging is convenient for organising your own library, but it is risky to share. Whether you are listing an item for sale, posting on a forum, or sending a picture to a stranger, stripping the GPS data first means the location stays private. Drop your photos above and download clean copies, all without anything leaving your browser. For iPhone HEIC photos, convert them with our HEIC to JPG converter first, then remove the metadata here.
